In 2000, several years after working on a series of projects at a boutique resort complex in Palm Springs, CA, the owners asked me to design an organic bench that would be located near the sculpture called "Volcano God" that I had erected several years earlier. The resulting form was designed to wrap around the existing palm trees and take on a natural feeling. It was constructed out of redwood fence boards strung on bent threaded rods.
