The first table was created as part of the furnishings for the house I had built for myself in San Francisco. The second was made in 1992 as a commissioned work for a friend's birthday gift to his partner. For the second one I made templates as I cut the many layers that went into the work. The third and fourth "Palm Tree Tables" were made from the templates as speculative works. All of these works have been sold.
While each "Palm Tree Table" is made from the same set of templates, each work is unique in many ways. The material used can be different, the color and finish can vary, the design and configuration of the leafs are different and the manner in which the layers are stacked can also vary giving each work a different overall form. The overall height can also vary. It takes 3 to 4 weeks to create each work as a special order.
