Yellow Wiggle

E-mail Print PDF

"Yellow Wiggle" was created in 1991 during a period of experimenting with forms using the laminating technique.  It is constructed of 1/2" construction grade plywood with multiple layers of auto body paint as the finish.   It's form is derived from a mathematical progression in two dimensions.  In one dimension, the solid band started at a 4" width and gradually tapered to a point at the opposite end.  At the same time, the radius of the loops that the solid band was wrapping around would increase at a steady rate.  In the other dimension, the thickness of the solid band started at a narrow dimension and steadily increased to the opposite end of the work.
